I just wanted to pass along that Peter David's WRITING FOR COMICS WITH PETER DAVID is great! Not only does he give helpful tips for writing (for comics and other media), but it is also an entertaining read. Not only do I love David's writing, but I think he is one of the comic writers who have introduced gay characters the most successfully. He characters, gay and straight, seem natural to the stories.
David also gives insight into the behind the scenes of comic writing including the fact that it was his idea to have Wolverine’s adamantium yanked out of his body by Magneto. David said it a kidding fashion, but Marvel went for it. Ironically, David said that if Wolverine could survive that, they might as well make him a god because he’d be essentially immortal, so he was opposed to the idea. Now we have Wolverine blasted down to nothing but his skeleton and he regenerates for actual death!
Anyway, it is one of the better books on writing comics that I’ve seen and from one of the masters of the medium. Check it out!
