On Monday, March 17th, GLAAD announced the winners of the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards at a ceremony in New York City, hosted by Graham Norton and honoring Brian Graden and Judy Shepard.
Of note to Prism readers is the recognition by GLAAD of Terry Moore’s Strangers in Paradise (Abstract Studio) as Outstanding Comic Book. This is the comic's second award from GLAAD, having been previously honored as Outstanding Comic Book in 2001. SiP is also an Eisner Award winner (Best Serialized Story, 1996).
The series, first published in 1993, recently ended its run with Issue No. 90 in June of 2007. It centered around the relationship between two women, Francine and Katchoo and chronicled among other things, their friends David and Casey, the shadowy Big Six organization, and the fact that Katchoo was in love with Francine most of her life.
