Check Out Rocket Stud, a New Weekly Web-Comic by Scotty Mullen and Michael Troy!
posted November 14th, 2008 [Print-ready Version]
Rocket Stud is a new web-comic created and written by Scotty Mullen and drawn by Michael Troy. Check out new episodes of Rocket Stud every Tuesday at rocketstud.com.
This weekly web-comic features the adventures of Robby, a San Francisco party boy, who is zapped up into a rocket and discovers he is the Prince of the Universe. But he may not be wearing his new crown long…his mother Queen Cherry will do everything in her power to not only destroy him, but the entire planet as well!
The characters include: Mommie – the drunk, wise-cracking, nymphomaniac, chain-smoking computer; Ping the Precocious – a short, beer-bellied Martian who is Queen Cherry’s main heavy; Kassandra Killheart – a D-list pop princess who is mistakenly abducted by Ping and becomes part of his alien girl harem; The Galaxy Guards – these gallant brutes go shirtless – their perfectly-developed chests are the only armor they need; and The GoGoBot – a robotic version of Robby whose weapon of choice are his nipple lasers
Attendees of the San Diego Comic Con International got their first glimpse of rocketstud.com when actors James Ellis and Dave Sivits were hired to portray Rocketboy and the GoGoBot in the halls of the con’s convention center. They became a media sensation with interviews on Spike TV, ABC7, NBC, and other outlets. The hero’s myspace and facebook pages are fun and interactive – giving fans a glimpse into more of the rocketstud.com mythos.
Scotty Mullen is the writer and producer of rocketstud.com. This is his first web-comic venture.
Michael Troy is the artist. His previous work includes Homo-Hero’s Big Book of Fun and Adventure from greencandypress.com. He is also a stand-up comedian and co-host of the popular web show thegaysonfilm.com. You can also catch him in a hilarious parody of actress Margot Kidder in “A Minute With Margot” at youtube.com/rktcommander.
