Prism Comics Hits New York June 6th and 7th at MoCCA Art Festival and Oso Oro 2!

Prism Comics, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization supporting queer creators and comics, is hosting a table at the MoCCA Art Festival, a two-day event being held June 6th and 7th, from 11:00am to 6:00pm each day, at its new venue this year, the 69th Regiment Armory in New York City. In conjunction, Ivan Velez Jr. is holding “Oso Oro 2: Global Bear Culture Art Fest” at the GLBT Community Center on June 6th, from 7:30-11pm.
“If you haven’t been, the MoCCA Art Festival is a great event, with everything from small publisher, independent, to photocopied self-made comics,” says David Stanley, Prism booth coordinator. “Then head over to Oso Oro 2 on Saturday night for a truly fun, wild event.”
At MoCCA, Prism has scheduled creator signings (at Table #516) with Allan Neuwirth (Chelsea Boys), Jennifer Camper (Juicy Mother 1 & 2, Dangerous Women), Abby Denson (Tough Love: High School Confidential), Erica Friedman (Yuricon), Chris DeCarlo (It’s The Michaels), Chuck McKinney and Chino (From the Cellar), and JD Glass (X, American Goth, Punk Like Me). Also, Prism is selling a full range of queer comics from such favorites as Paige Braddock (Jane’s World), Tim Fish (Cavalcade of Boys) Joe Phillips (Boys Will Be Boys), Brian Andersen (So Super Duper), Tommy Roddy (Pride High), and more.
Oso Oro 2, on Saturday, June 6 from 7:30pm to 11:00pm, is a participatory multimedia event on Saturday, June 6th, 7:30-11pm, at New York’s GLBT Community Center, Room 301. Draw and photograph live bear models and enjoy a bear art gallery, manga, comics, video presentations, cheap beer, drinks, food, music, plus an “Art War” with challenges and prizes.
