BLONDES AWAY! THE BLONDE SQUAD EXPLODES INTO THE SPOTLIGHT
[Color Commentary, Posted 6/11/09]
To paraphrase Richard Nixon, “I am not a blonde. I have never been a blonde.” Fortunately that won’t stop non-blondes from enjoying the first issue of Michael Troy’s deeply superficial comic book, The Blonde Squad. If you think dumb blondes with superpowers haven’t been funny since the sixties, Michael Troy gleefully challenges your preconceptions.
The opening scene takes what is a superhero cliché in team comics and puts a hilarious spin on it. Troy introduces his cast and… SO SUPER DUPER #6 DEBUTS THIS WEEKEND AT APE!
[News, Posted 10/29/08]
The latest issue of Brian Andersen’s So Super Duper will be debuting at San Francisco’s Alternative Press Expo (also know as APE) this weekend, November 1-2. Brian will be appearing at Table #557.
“If you're in the SF area and would like to come and say 'Hola' I would love for you see me go APE (teehee),” says Andersen. “This cutesty-pie issue also features a wonderful back-up story by Tony Smith and Jon Macy!”

Add a dash of just the right amount of camp, and you’re still just scratching the surface of Reignbow & Dee-Va #1.
The story starts out very nonchalantly with Reignbow and his best gal pal, Dee-Va – who’s a cross between Foxy Brown… HIGH MARKS FOR GABRIEL
[Color Commentary, Posted 8/7/08]
When I first heard about Raul Faria’s The Mark of Gabriel, I was terrified it was going to be another cookie-cutter supernatural thriller/detective story. I’m delighted to say that Raul Faria proved me wrong! Tony Smith BIG HEART The Mark of Gabriel A FLAMING GOOD SUPERHERO COMIC BOOK!
[Color Commentary, Posted 6/12/08]
Flaming Arrow & Pigeon is so much more than its tongue-in-cheek, double-meaning title. The star of this comic, the triumphant Flaming Arrow, is both queer (hence, part one of the “flaming” meaning) and able to create and control a fiery bow and arrow (hence the second, double flamey whammy)! I love that talented creator/writer Tony Smith is able to take a potentially derogatory gay term, like flaming, and turn it into a positive by having his character own and embrace this…
